Updated: Apr 9, 2019

The procedure for registration of voters for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections is outlined as follows:

  1. Visit the National Voters’ Service Portal at https://nvsp.in/index.html.

  2. Then, click on ‘Apply Online For Registration of New Voter’ on the homepage. This is the link for ‘Form 6’. A new window with Form 6 will open.

  3. Choose your language by selecting your preferred language from the drop-down menu on the upper-right side of the page.

  4. Enter the mandatory particulars, like name, date of birth, and gender. Other important details such as your area of domicile and current and permanent addresses should also be provided.

  5. Next, you should upload scanned copies of your ID proof, photograph, and address proof. You can use the same document, such as passport or driving license as ID and address proof. Students who have just turned 18 years old should provide age proof.

  6. Fill in the details for the declaration of the authenticity of the details previously entered in the form. After all the details are entered, click the ‘Submit’ button at the bottom of the page.

  7. After completing the above mentioned steps, you will receive a unique acknowledgement number using which you can track your voter registration. To do so, visit https://electoralsearch.in/ and enter your details, such as name, age, state, district, etc. Upon successful registration, your name will appear in the list.

  8. Already registered voters can check their name on the electoral rolls, by click on 'Search Your Name in Electoral Roll' on the left side of the homepage.
